Every year on 14 June, countries all around the world celebrate World Blood Donor Day. This year again, we show our support for the initiative by taking part in the #MissingType campaign.

Introduced 4 years ago in England by the NHS Blood and Transplant, the "Missing Type" campaign aims at raising awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products but also at celebrating blood donors for their voluntary and live-saving donations. This campaign features the missing letters A, B, and O to highlight the impact those blood types have in saving endangered lives when they are missing.

In Luxembourg, around 13,000 men and women voluntarily gave their blood in 2018, allowing the Red Cross' Blood Transfusion Center to meet the requirements in the country's hospitals and clinics. However there is a constant need to recruit new blood donors, especially among young people, to ensure these requirements are always met.

Visit the Luxembourg Red Cross website if you wish to learn how and where you can donate blood.
