Maryline took her position as a Client Services Officer at SEQVOIA just a few weeks ago after working for 10 years in the Regulatory Reporting area in Luxembourg. In this interview, she tells us more about what she enjoys and likes!

Where did you grow up and what is special about this place?

I grew up in my parent’s restaurant. This place is special to me not only because I have good memories, but also because it made who I am today. I remember the conviviality, the good smell of the food prepared by my father and my mother’s smile when she was serving clients.

I am an epicurean and I like taking care of my clients, there is no doubt all this come from my family: they worked hard and played hard!

If you could spend a whole day with a famous person, who would it be and why?

I’ve always surrounded myself with women of character, so I would love to spend a day with Cleopatra: she was the most powerful woman in the world, although the last of her dynasty, she managed to keep her throne and ensured the greatness and independence of her kingdom. She was not only known for her beauty, she also used her intellect and education as efficient political weapons.

What hobby would you get into if time and money were not an issue?

I would do a kind of “music festival world tour” because I love travelling, listening to music, sharing good moments with friends and meeting people. But I must say I am lucky because I met a few local artists here in Luxembourg and now have some talented people in my life I am grateful I can share special moments with outside my working time. They “create” things (music, photography, movies…) and introduce me to other people who also do… Luxembourg is not only about banks, we also have quite an interesting art scene.

Who’s your go-to band or artist when you can’t decide on something to listen to?

Led Zeppelin – with no hesitation – and if I am home, chances are that I will suddenly act like a Rockstar during her tour.

What’s your dream car?

Can’t choose between a Mustang Shelby GT500 1967 and an Aston Martin DB5 1963-1965. I love classic cars and both are iconic ones, but depending on my mood I would either go for the aggressive muscle car or the classy British.

If you had a warning label, what would yours say?

If am telling you I am hungry, we better stop everything we are doing and start looking for food before I turn myself into the Incredible Hulk.

How different was your life one year ago?

One year ago I was working in an eco-lodge and living in a self-build campervan in New Zealand… now work in finance and live in a beautiful apartment in Luxembourg. How different, isn’t it?

What small gesture from a stranger made a big impact on you?

When I arrived in New Zealand, I was hosted by a kiwi family for nearly 2 months. We’ve never met before and they treated me like I was part of the family at a time where I was far away from mine. I’ll never forget them. Now, if somehow I can help someone in need, even a stranger, I do.

When people come to you for help, what do they usually want help with?

People often come to me for my problem-solving approach because I am a fair and pragmatic person.

What do you like the most at SEQVOIA?

The responsiveness! SEQVOIA is represented by small teams of experts, which makes it really responsive to clients' requests, product enhancement and project development. This can sometimes take much longer in bigger infrastructures, where there are many intermediaries.
